The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year?
Quite possibly the most popular of holidays is Christmas. Celebrated in the December 25th, Christmas is recognized in many parts of the world and is arguably a favorite holiday for most. It is a time for friends and families to get together, exchange gifts, share delicious food, have a drink, go to church and just spend time with one another.
Christmas, in the traditional sense is a holiday based on religion. It is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. To date, many families recognize the holiday and partake in biblical activities to celebrate the day. For non-religious families, this holiday season is also much celebrated.
Some of the more popular Christmas traditions include trimming a Christmas tree, decorating one's home with lights and other festive decor, exchanging gifts, sending Christmas cards, singing carols, attending festivals and parades among many other things. Over the years, each family seems to create it's own special tradition that is passed on year after year. It can be a special church service, a family party, selecting and decorating their tree or any other activity that can be done as a family, it is hard not to be caught up in the magic of the Christmas season.
With Thanksgiving running a close second, Christmas is the most celebrated family holiday and is the richest in tradition. Most families spend time together, enjoy a great meal and exchange gifts with each other. On top of that though, most like to create their own special activities that make this holiday time so special. One of the much cherished family traditions includes visiting their beloved horses. On Christmas day all family liked to get up early, enjoy a pancake breakfast made by Mom, open their presents and then go visit horses to give them a special treat of molasses, carrots, oats and apples. They would come home, shower and get ready for the fabulous Christmas dinner.
No matter what activity you do or where you like to spend your Christmas, the most important thing is that you spend it with people that you love. Christmas is a great time to take a break from work, enjoy some delicious food and revel in the company of those that bring happiness to your life. As we get older this becomes more important than any gift we could receive. The same can be said for gift giving. As we get older we realize that giving truly can be much better than receiving!
