Day of Prayer
On December 8, 1967, Pope Paul VI established a new holiday, the International Day of Peace (or International Day of Prayer for Peace for Catholics) that was adopted to celebrate on the first day of each new year.
The United Nations General Assembly declared this holiday as official on December 17, 1969.
Peace on Earth, as well as the relaxation of tension in international and interstate relations, - these are the issues of annual themes of pre-holiday pontifical messages to the all-religious people. The common slogan of the International Day of Peace is the following: "Forgive and you'll find peace".
